A new report by the Geiger Gibson/RCHN Community Health Foundation Research Collaborative analyzes the potential risk to health centers and the communities they serve if Congress fails to renew the Community Health Center Fund, which is due to expire on September 30. If the fund is not renewed, 9 million people could lose access to health care services. Cutting funds to community health centers could lead to site closures, a loss of 51,000 health care jobs and an economic downturn in communities located throughout the U.S.
The report was authored by Peter Shin, Jessica Sharac, Rachel Gunsalus and Sara Rosenbaum.
