About
The Geiger Gibson Health Policy Fellows Program is designed to help health center, PCA, and HCCN staff develop a deeper understanding of health policy and develop policy analysis skills and competencies to help support their organization’s programs and advocacy. Online webinars are followed by an in-residence program in Washington, D.C.
Program Aims
The Health Policy Fellows Program aims to:
Provide a foundation in health policy and advocacy, geared toward health centers and the communities they serve;
Introduce health policy analysis and advocacy tools and help participants acquire and use skills related to developing and presenting policy and advocacy positions;
Create opportunities for participants to interact with policy experts and leaders in health policy and politics; and
Offer substantive, issue-based opportunities for learning and networking.
Program Participants
The Health Policy Fellows Program is intended to meet the professional needs of a broad range of mid-level and senior staff working in community health centers, PCAs, and HCCNs. Staff from a variety of roles are invited to apply. Each cohort is limited to 20 participants to facilitate hands-on, active learning.
Program Faculty
Instruction for asynchronous and in-residence sessions will be provided by faculty of the Milken Institute School of Public Health, Geiger Gibson Program Distinguished Visitors, and leading experts in local health and national health policy and advocacy.
Costs
The Fellows Program tuition is $1,425 per fellow, not including travel, lodging (available at a discounted fee), and meals outside of those provided by the program.
What
The program will include three online sessions to introduce the health policymaking process at the state and federal level. In the spring, participants will join together for a 2.5-day program in residence, on the campus of GW’s Milken Institute School of Public Health in Washington, D.C.
When
The in-residence program will take place April 5-7, 2027,* with the online sessions meeting in February and March.
Following the completion of the program, Fellows will be invited to meet online for additional lectures and discussion sessions to deepen their learning a maintain connections within the cohort.
