Community health centers are the backbone of safety net primary and preventive health care services, providing care at nearly 14,000 sites in underserved rural, suburban and urban communities across the United States. This analysis assesses the value proposition for community health centers based on the body of evidence that has developed over decades and shows how non-profit community health centers promote health equity, lower health care costs while providing high-quality care, and create economic opportunity in the communities they serve.
