In a new report, titled “Bending the Health Care Cost Curve in North Carolina: The Experience of Community Health Centers” the Geiger Gibson/RCHN Community Health Foundation Research Collaborative at The George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services examines the financial impact of CHCs in North Carolina, a state known for primary care innovation. The authors find considerable cost savings associated with health center patients as compared with comparable patients who received care in other ambulatory settings. On average, patients served by community health centers cost 62% less annually than comparable patients who received care in other setting.
