On October 25th, the Geiger Gibson Program will welcome its newest Distinguished Visitor to the Milken Institute School of Public Health.  Michael R. Taylor, Chief Executive Officer of the Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center, is nationally recognized as a leader in community health center practice and policy.  He has dedicated his professional career in health management and leadership to bettering the lives of residents of medically underserved community.  He is known for his visionary and transformational work at Cornell Scott - Hill Health Center (CT), one of the nation’s oldest health centers with roots in the civil rights movement.  Under his leadership, the health center has gained deep financial and operational stability, has led the way on care integration and patient centeredness, expanded sites and services, and grown to serve over 50,000 New Haven residents through a staff of more than 700.

Since 2008, the Geiger Gibson Distinguished Visitorship program has recognized leaders from the world of community health centers and primary care associations. Distinguished visitors are in residence with faculty, staff, and students of the School and engage in both informal discussions and formal lectures.

Dr. Feygele Jacobs, who leads the Geiger Gibson Program as professor of management and policy,  said, "Michael Taylor has distinguished himself as a national community health leader through his service as CEO of the Cornell Scott - Hill Health Center and prior consultant expert to hundreds of health centers across the county. We are delighted to have him in residence to provide a unique a learning opportunity for students as well as faculty." 

Added Professor Sara Rosenbaum, who established the Geiger Gibson Program in 2004 as Founding Chair of the Department of Health Policy, “Our distinguished visitors are the leaders whose work has enabled health centers to play such a seminal role in health care, population health, and health equity.”
